In Japan, it’s customary for Pokémon Center staff to remove the shrink wrap from booster boxes before putting them on shelves or fulfilling online orders. These boxes are 100% authentic and contain the same factory-sealed booster packs inside—just without the outer plastic wrap.

2. Should I avoid no-shrink boxes?

Only if you don’t trust the source.
Even though Japanese booster boxes include built-in tamper-evident features (like tear strips and perforated lids), they can still be resealed by bad actors. That’s why it’s important to buy from trusted sellers. If you’re planning to open the box and rip packs—not stash it in a sealed collection—buying a booster box without shrink wrap is a great way to save a few bucks while still getting the exact same authentic product!
